So What Does This Mean? - The Microprism Concept

It means that not only the eyes are focussed but also body posture, balance and movement. This allows vision and body to work well together whatever the activity, such that walking is easier or the golf swing is more direct etc.

How does Vision affect us?

Visual processing takes up to 25% of body energy under normal circumstances. It is obviously very important to the individual that vision functions well. Do you also know that the visual pathways traverse at least 34 other centres in the brain that are dealing with physiological dynamics other than vision? It thus poses the question, what is the importance of their interrelationships? The effects of vision are clearly a lot more than just what meets the eyes...

What is Vision?

Vision is the perception of sight and its effect on being and motivation. Perception is unique to the individual and deals with consciousness, awareness and intent. Generally speaking, it is the ability to focus or lack thereof that is considered in optometric consultation. This is called Focal Vision. Logically one would consider Focal Vision to be responsible for all visual processes as to how things are perceived. What is not well known in the public arena, is that this is only one part of the Holography (from the Greek: holos = entire, graphia = picture) of vision. Another "vision" to consider is what is known as Ambient Vision. This deals with the focus and spatial continuity of body posture, balance, direction and movement. For the most part, this is subconsciously directed but can be consciously redirected when and where appropriate (time-space coherence). Healthy Ambient Vision depends on communication between the conscious and subconscious domains of the Body-dynamic with respect to Focal Vision.

In brief: Vision is more than just seeing. It also requires the body to actively support it.

Can Vision Change for the Better?

When vision is out of balance between conscious and subconscious domains, the typical categories of short sightedness, longsightedness, astigmatism and old age vision become the typical symptoms of what's wrong.  When Focal and Ambient Vision are brought  into balanced quantum (light) coherence, new or renewed  (co-ordinated) vision-body integration can take place, leading to new conscious awareness of possibility and opportunity for the given individual. This expresses what is known as Quantum Entanglement or Quantum Non-Local Connection. When physiological systems coherently connect, they become superradiant, acting in unity.  In essence, the whole person is facilitated into integrative, communicative focus, perspective and movement.

In brief: Yes, good vision is in equilibrium with consciousness, intent and body dynamics.

How is this Done at MO?

Combining dynamic ophthalmic lens and prism in supportive, activating and integrating configurations engages not only clarity of detail discrimination, but also the contextual perspective in the correct local-spatial dynamic of focal and ambient vision.  The lenses and prism configurations are designed to activate and integrate sensory and muscle systems of the eyes and change vision.  Over time reduced prescriptions are given as the visual system becomes more robust in self regulation.  In the perfect case scenario self regulation becomes complete and a person is no longer dependent on glasses.

In brief: Prism lenses can be made to focus not only detail but also perspective coherently as a platform for appropriate ambient interaction.

What is the Basis of the Procedure?

This is considered in terms of quantum physics which may in itself appear to be very complex and daunting. However the simplicity of  Visuo-Somatic Holographic Modelling can in practical terms bring into alignment the complexity of multi-parameter interphysiological relationships with respect to light communication. Quantum physics deals with local and non local entities in quantum phase coherence, meaning not only are entities in tune with each other but also have the freedom of individual function, thereby maintaining  localised and global harmony without any discord. Quantum (Physiological) Optics therefore deals with the coherence between the eyes (local) and the body (non local) such that a dynamic equilibrium exists between these two domains, not only as negative feedback loops for homoeostasis (maintaining visuo-somatic balance) but positive feed forward loops for homoeodynamic change to take place or new direction. Change in this instance can be considered as a shifting back to balance or toward a new equilibrium dynamic. The quantum world does not deal in straight lines or Euclidian Geometry but rather with wave fronts which are energy and information patterns and how they relate to each other with their overall effect on reality. The Quantum Effect in this instance leads to redirected or refocused awareness and intent both visually and somatic, affecting physiological function both locally and globally.

In brief: Quantum Optics focuses vision and body coherently.

Who Would Benefit from this Procedure?

People who are patiently and actively prepared to experience visuo-somatic change to take place and not wanting quick symptomatic fixes. Setting a framework of good communication is of essence to facilitate redirection. A preparedness toward interactive change would be most beneficial. This work does not lend itself well to time constraints as it is unique to the individual to explore the possibilities of supported, redirected vision as changes take place.

In brief: Be open to new possibilities of redirected ability.

Who Practices this Form of Optometry ?

Michael Christian is an Optometrist who graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 1993. As an Optometrist, he has over many years of practice observed the inter-physiological processes between vision and body function and passed on this information in practical application to the public.  He has recently started to give lectures and workshops to other interested Optometrists both nationally and offshore.  Michael's Microprism Optics commenced late 2001 in Drysdale, Victoria and has now been well established in Queenscliff since 2002.

In brief: Michael facilitates the focussing of vision-body integration at MO for improved vision-body dynamics and is now demonstrating and teaching other Optometrists this methodology.

What Professional Bodies is Michael Christian a Member of?

Optometrists Association of Australia - OAA
Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists - ACBO
Australian College of Syntonics - ACS

In brief: These groups facilitate communication among colleagues.
